During one of our visits to Geladona, one of our favorite clients and coffee shops in Toronto, we were inspired to create something uniquely Brazilian for our coffee-loving community. The result? A delicious Paçoca Latte, blending the nutty, sweet flavors of Brazil’s beloved paçoca with the rich, bold notes of espresso. This drink brings a delightful twist to your latte, perfect for anyone looking to explore new flavor combinations.

What is Paçoca?

Paçoca is a traditional Brazilian sweet made from ground peanuts, sugar, and a pinch of salt, often enjoyed during festivities like Festa Junina. It’s a crumbly, nutty delight with a flavor profile that pairs perfectly with coffee. Think of it as a Brazilian peanut candy, adding just the right amount of sweetness and texture to your favorite coffee beverage.

Paçoca Latte Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of espresso (or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 tablespoon of paçoca (crumbled)
  • 1 cup of milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 teaspoon of peanut butter (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon of condensed milk (or sugar, for sweetness)
  • Crumbled paçoca and peanut powder for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Espresso: Brew your espresso or strong coffee and set aside.
  2. Heat the Milk: Warm the milk on the stove, careful not to boil it. Use a frother if you want a nice foamy texture.
  3. Mix the Paçoca: In a cup, stir together the crumbled paçoca, peanut butter (if using), and condensed milk until smooth.
  4. Combine with Coffee: Pour your freshly brewed espresso into the cup with the paçoca mixture. Stir well.
  5. Froth and Pour the Milk: Froth the heated milk if desired, then pour it over the coffee mixture, letting the froth settle on top.
  6. Garnish: Finish off with a sprinkle of crumbled paçoca and peanut powder for that extra touch.
  7. Enjoy: Sit back and enjoy your Paçoca Latte, a drink that brings the flavors of Brazil straight to your cup.
