This recipe guides you through creating a classic Tiramisu at home, promising an indulgent treat that’s sure to uplift your spirits.

 

Ingredients:

• 6 large egg yolks

• 3/4 cup granulated sugar

• 1 cup room temperature mascarpone cheese

• 1 1/2 cups strong brewed espresso, cooled

• 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

• 24 to 30 ladyfingers

• Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

• Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

 

Instructions:

1. Coffee Mixture: Mix the cooled espresso with the coffee liqueur in a shallow dish for dipping ladyfingers.

2. Mascarpone Cream: Whisk egg yolks and sugar until thick. Add mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth.

3. Assemble:

• Dip ladyfingers in coffee mixture and lay a layer in your dish.

• Spread half the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.

• Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.

• Smooth the top.

4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.

 

Tips:

• Use hard Italian ladyfingers (savoiardi) for best results.

• Ensure mascarpone is at room temperature to avoid lumps.

• Strong espresso is key for a rich flavor.
